"Omaeilyeo: Awakening Sound" was staged inside the Mireuksaji Temple Site — a UNESCO World Heritage location — as part of the 2024 Korea Heritage Media Art festival in Iksan. The work centered on an interactive visual system by Jaeyoung Shin, reacting to live music played inside the ancient Gangdangji lecture hall grounds.

The system came alive through a collaboration with musician Dasom Baek on the daegeum (traditional Korean flute). As the melodies filled the site, visuals directed by PSYNCSTAGE responded in real time — pillars of light and interactive projections rising and falling with the music, opening a dialogue between sound, light, history, and space.

The goal was a direct way to meet Korea's heritage through technology — using contemporary tools to re-read historical narrative and traditional form for today's audience.

About Gangdangji at Mireuksaji: The "Gangdang" was a key space for Buddhist lectures, sermons, and ceremonies. The Gangdangji (lecture hall site) at Mireuksaji stands out for its scale (65.6m x 9.8m) and state of preservation. As the largest known stone-podium building from the Baekje period, it gives invaluable insight into the architectural techniques of the era.
